Chrysalid Homo Remixes
Within each piece of music are not only phrases, themes, and sequences, but individual parts that are in and of themselves complex musical expressions.

Adopting an approach that is unconventional to me, of remixing and composing new settings for individual stems instead of remixing the song as a whole, I found myself with pieces forming around three musical parts: the synthesizer solo; the programmed drums; and the vocal parts. I’ll make individual introductions to each remix below.
Grand Conjunction
This piece is a new setting of the synthesizer solo from 21st Century, transforming an upbeat and upfront solo into a whirring and meandering melody. Complementing the spiky nature of the sythesizer, this piece uses soft and mellow tones, and thunderous rumbles to create a storm-like setting for the solo to twist and turn around itself.
Some Form Of Democracy
I would usually approach a programmed drum loop as an opportunity to compose a new rhythm section and song structure at the tempo already set, and with the style and feel predetermined in the loop.
Departing from my usual processes I used the drum loop as a fluttering, undulating, warping and scuffling part set to bells and a simple bass line. Abandoning the time constraints of tempo and bars, the bells are played with some improvisation, with a mix of intentional overlaps and gaps between each harmonic form.
Long Peace
Taking only the vocal parts and stretching them almost beyond recognition led to this vocoder-style choral journey that starts in robotised-tenor and ends in Ghost In The Shell like ai-falsetto.
The mood of this piece is expansive, curious, resolute, and it pairs well with a walk in beautiful natural surroundings.
